Dear Maritime Family,
The Maritime Conference would like to extend a humble but very warm welcome to our new president, Pastor David Miller. He officially takes up office and begins his duties as president on June 1, 2020. On Feb. 18, 2020, the Board of Directors of the Maritime Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Inc. elected David Miller as the next conference president after Paul Llewellyn was asked to serve as executive secretary at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada.
David Miller has a broad range of experience in ministry. His pastoral work began as youth pastor for the Henderson Highway Seventh-day Adventist Church in Winnipeg, Man. In 2009, Miller accepted the position of district pastor for the Battlefords and St. Walburg congregations in Saskatchewan. Currently, Miller serves as the pastor for the Hill Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church in Regina, Sask.In addition to pastoral work, Miller has served as Saskatchewan Conference ministerial director and men’s ministry leader.
He currently sits on several boards, including the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada, the Man-Sask Conference, and It Is Written board of directors.With a heart for outreach, David Miller has led out in numerous community initiatives and mission trips. These include mission trips to Mexico and Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina. In 2009, Miller initiated the “Walk Through Bethlehem” presentation, which portrays the life of Christ annually to the communities in North Battleford and Regina.
Miller stated, “I am humbled that God has included me in His plan in serving the church in the Maritime Conference, and I am excited to see where He will lead us as a conference while we continue to do His work so that we can soon see Him coming in the clouds of glory. We are looking forward to hearing Him say, ‘Well done thy good and faithful servant,’ and then spending eternity with our Saviour.” Miller has also functioned as president of the North Battleford’s ministerial association for three years and as a mentor for third-year pastoral ministry students under the Burman University Mentorship program.
David Miller was born in North Dakota and has been married to his wife, Cyndi, for 38 years. They have two daughters, Brittany (Reggie) and Caitlyn (Eric), and four granddaughters.
“For years I’ve watched Dave Miller serve people through his ministry. I know of his deep love for Jesus and his great interest in the people of the church. I have every confidence that his thoughtful service will be appreciated by our brothers and sisters in the Maritimes as he assumes the leadership of that field,” remarked Mark Johnson, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Canada.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Maritimes comprises approximately 1,667 members, 27 churches, and one school. Our mission is to carry out the commission of Christ in leading people to salvation in Jesus, teach them biblical faith and the Christian lifestyle, equip all to serve in our churches and communities with each God-given ability, and prepare everyone to meet our soon-coming Lord.
